2022 Edinburgh Industrial Placement Programme
This programme is open to students from Edinburgh university, studying mechanical or electrical engineering, to join the water team for a period of 6 months: January 2022 - July 2022.
Mechanical Engineering placement
Our mechanical engineers work in world class teams to design and deliver sustainable solutions. We are working with Scottish Water to help them provide high-quality affordable water, protect and enhance the environment, and support communities and the economy across the region. Innovative engineering solutions are vital to these efforts, so if you're up for the challenge then we want to hear from you.
The role will be based in our Edinburgh office where you will have the opportunity to provide mechanical input to water and wastewater treatment projects as part of the team.
Electrical Engineering placement
Our electrical engineers work in project teams to design and deliver innovative and sustainable solutions with Scottish Water and other UK and International water clients. We share our clients aim to deliver projects that provide customers with high quality drinking water and ensure projects protect and enhance the environment . Our Edinburgh team is primarily focused on providing Electrical and ICA input to water and waste water treatment projects and have an opportunity for you to be a part of this team.
To join us for an industrial trainee placement you must currently be at University or looking for a pre-university placement.
You'll be working with graduates, experienced professionals, and other students so a placement with us is the perfect opportunity to learn from a variety of people while understanding our values and culture. It's also a great chance to get involved with real projects while gaining relevant experience.
We do not have a formal structure for our placements, so you can really make the role your own. The more you get involved and the more questions you ask, the more you will gain from your experience with us.
As well as having one of the specific degrees listed above, we are looking for students with the following characteristics:
A methodical approach to problem solving The ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently. Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members. Excellent written communication and attention to detail with the ability to demonstrate accurate technical drawings and good report writing.
